Pragmatic, strategic advice

What challenges do you have in your company? Does your board need an objective advisor with strategic and commercial savvy to be a sounding board, disrupt stuck patterns of thinking and help strike that difficult balance between doing what is right for the business while still getting the best from your team?

Would you like a conversation to explore what support you need and how we might work together?

Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty to navigate. We can’t predict the future, but we can create it. I’ve been mentoring innovative businesses through the Oxentia/Santander X programme, and there is some exciting creative thinking out there. Look out for more information about my winning mentees on my blog and LinkedIn, and if you’d like to know how that kind of innovative thinking could help your business be more ‘cutting edge’, then let’s talk.

Why work with a board advisor?

It is an opportunity to fill skill gaps in your leadership team and get an unbiased perspective on the long game. It also:

  • Offers an outsider's perspective

  • Supplements and expands leadership capabilities

  • Increases credibility with investors, employees and clients

  • Expands your business network

  • Gives you pragmatic and expert advice on specific business challenges

Mark* was co-founder of an ad-tech company. Changes in the GDPR regulations in 2016 meant the company had to pivot and rethink its services. The UK board needed to redefine the purpose and values of the company and establish a new strategic path for its future if it was to survive. On a personal level, Mark wanted to be more flexible in his thinking and behaviours when stressed and under pressure.

I acted as an objective sounding board for the leadership team and provided space and time for them to think about the challenges that they were facing. As a result of this work, the business diversified its services and expanded into APAC and the US.

One of Mark’s personal coaching objectives was to find a more clearly defined role for himself within the organisation. While we were working together, he took on the role of CEO for the US operation and established a strong presence for the company in North America.
